How Shift Fractional Works

Shift Fractional is designed to be easy to adopt, fast to deploy, and low risk to try. We focus on understanding your real HR and recruiting needs, designing the right level of support, and owning outcomes as your business evolves.

STEP 1

Discovery and Assessment

We start with a structured discovery conversation to understand your business, not to sell a pre-packaged solution.

We assess:

  • Company size, structure, and growth stage

  • Current HR and recruiting setup

  • Active people issues, risks, or recent close calls

  • Hiring needs and upcoming changes

  • Manager capability and consistency

  • Compliance risks and potential exposure

The goal is clarity. We want to understand what is actually happening inside your business today.

STEP 2

Scope, Hours, and Design

Based on discovery, we design a recommended scope of work tailored to your needs.

This includes:

  • What Shift Fractional will own and manage

  • Estimated weekly and monthly hours

  • The role of the fractional HR lead

  • Supporting resources from our HR and recruiting bench

  • Whether support is ongoing, time-bound, or project-based

You are not forced into a long-term or oversized engagement. The scope reflects real demand, not assumptions.


STEP 3

Deploy and Embed

Once aligned, we deploy your fractional HR lead and any supporting resources.

Shift Fractional operates as an internal extension of your business:

  • Embedded into your operating rhythm

  • Aligned with your leadership team

  • Accountable for execution and outcomes

This is not staff placement. Shift Fractional retains ownership of delivery.

STEP 3.1 (Optional)

Transition Existing Capacity

In some cases, an existing employee may be transitioned into the Shift Fractional model.

This allows you to:

  • Retain institutional knowledge

  • Right-size capacity

  • Reduce inefficiency without disruption

We manage this carefully and respectfully, ensuring clarity and alignment for all parties.


STEP 4

Execute, Review, and Adjust

We deliver HR and recruiting outcomes and adapt as your needs change.

During the first 90–100 days, we conduct regular check-ins to:

  • Confirm priorities and scope

  • Ensure fit and performance

  • Adjust hours or focus areas as needed

HR demand changes over time. Your support should too.


STEP 5

Scale, Shift, or Exit Cleanly

As your business evolves, you can:

  • Increase capacity immediately when demand rises

  • Reduce usage safely when things slow

  • Pause or exit without penalties if needs change

There are no long-term contracts. If the model ever stops making sense, you are free to hire or pursue another path.
